Red Salak,Salacca affinis

This outstanding snake fruit should not be confused with ordinary snake fruit. Not only is it visually stunning, but its taste is also exceptionally delightful. With a tartness reminiscent of strawberries, this fruit lacks the astringency typically found in regular snake fruit. The texture of the flesh is similar to strawberries, being soft yet with a satisfying bite, albeit slightly firmer than strawberries. It has a substantial edible portion and boasts a sugar content of 21.6%. For reference, the Pondoh variety of Salacca zalacca has a sugar content of around 20%.
