Uwamizu-Zakura,Prunus grayana

This plant is a member of the cherry blossom family, a typical Japanese plant. The flowers bloom in long, slender clusters. The fruit has a bitter taste and is not suitable for eating raw, but it has the aroma of the apricot seed’s innards. The unripe fruits are pickled in salt. This goes very well with sake. The red ripe fruits are soaked in shochu together with lemon for about two months to make fruit wine.
