An old Japanese pear variety that has been cultivated in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan since the Edo period. Ishikawa Prefecture was once known as “Kaga,” and since that time has been known for its Kaga pears.

This is a precious pear that may disappear from the world in 100 years, as there are only a few trees of this variety surviving in Japan.

Meigetsu” means “bright moon” in Japanese. The shape of the fruit is a beautiful sphere, and the rind is light brown. As its name suggests, it is a beautiful pear that looks like a full moon.

It has a crisp apple-like texture and a wonderful balance of sweet and sour flavors.
