This citrus variety, a favorite of mine, was developed from natural cross-seedlings of Hyuganatsu. It features oblate-shaped fruits, slightly heavy (about 200g), with a yellow peel, and is harvested in early February in Itoshima, Fukuoka Prefecture. The tree has a somewhat upright form, medium size and vigor, with moderately thick branches and slightly short internodes. Leaves are spindle-shaped, medium-sized, with a narrow width and short petioles. The fruit is oblate, with a round top, a concave ring at the apex, and a spherical stalk area. The peel is thick, yellow, moderately oily, and slightly rough, with high peel ratio and medium difficulty in peeling. The pulp is pale yellow, moderately juicy, slightly sweet (about 12° Brix), with low acidity and mild aroma. It has numerous seeds with pale green embryos and is polyembryonic. The maturity is slightly early, with low alternate bearing, few late fruit drops, no puffing or splitting, and good storage quality. Compared to Hyuganatsu, it is distinguishable by the concave ring on the fruit top and early maturity; compared to Sanbokan, by its spherical stalk area, higher sweetness, and early ripening period.
